These books, listed according to age group, are a mix of fiction, non-fiction, history-focused, and inclusive, and many highlight diverse family structures and gender identities and have characters who are racially diverse, too. In addition, children’s books can be used as a tool to highlight the beautiful diversity in families and identities. I liked the cast and this mystery worked well. But it is a real shock to discover Ali's sister being treated as a suspect.this makes it personal! Asked if she would create a female protagonist, she seems to hesitate. But her relationship with her characters is far from clinical writing them is a process of close engagement.
